In only seven more days we will officially know who the big winner is...what an exciting feeling! It's much quieter back here tonight. There are only four contestants left this week and as usual the boys are out and about early since the girls take a little more time getting ready before the show. The boys are smelling nice as usual...and I'm sure the girls are too of course. Like I said, it's much quieter than it was, say 4 weeks ago when there were about 10 contestants running around the place.
Coffey is sitting with the CMT correspondant and just stuck the mic in my face to say a little hello. I feel so "famous." LOL! Listening to the interviews each week really brings a new side to the contestants that you don't really get to see on TV. Here are just a few tidbits that I overheard during interviews tonight.
"Vote for Gabe! You spell Gabe 'C-O-F-F-E-Y!'" - Coffey
Coffey says that people see him in person and obviously want to say hi, but don't want to bother him. People - if you see Coffey in the airport, mall or any other public place, he urges you to come up and say, "Hello!"
Coffey wear girl jeans -- and he looks good in them, doesn't he ladies?
Gabe has a strong attachment to his baseball caps. He says that he wears them until they unravel. One time, when he was swimming in the ocean, he lost one of his caps and the next morning his parents went walking along the shore in case it washed up during the night.
In high school, Gabe was voted prom king!
Ok, enough gossip for now...I'll fill you in on the girls if they ever get out of makeup and interviews and come hang out in the green room. It takes a lot of time to look as beautiful as Miss Shawn Mayer and Mrs. Melissa Lawson, let me tell you!

musicfan i think they made the right choice for nashville star this year, i have watched nashville star since it started and clearly i think the judges that picked these contestants this year either didnt have any talent to choose from or were drunk when they auditioned shawn how she made it as far as she did is amazing to me the woman couldent sing her way out of a toilet if it was over flowing its rediculous and the two little girls omg come on what were they thinking were they feeling sorry for them cause they were so pathetic the only talent they had this year was gabe and melissa come on guy wake up next season get some real talent to choose from gabe is a good singer but he falls flat on alot of his songs needs more enthuasum when he sings im very disapointed in the choices they made this year the first guy to be booted off was purly a no talent pretty boy why and how he made it on the show is beyond me its just un real i guess they didnt have any talent to choose from this year im so disapointed

I was called out of town so had to record it. Just watched it this a.m. before toddling off to work.
Coffey, voted off. Probably could have done without the get-down-on-my-knees-and-shred-my-guitar... seemed out of place with this song.
I somewhat agreed with John Rich in that he's a star but probably not a Nashville Star. However, If Nashville wants to expand it's customer base.. and they do..., pulling in Coffey's somewhat urban sound is the way to go. Funny, John Rich made it 'big' by urbanizing his country act i.e. Big and Rich's "Save A Horse Ride A Cowboy" Coffey's got a Country career ahead of him if he wants it.
Shawn Mayer. Equally talented but needs to work on her stage presence... not sure what that means. She comes off like a Karaoke act, not a Nashville act. And... she needs to find a Mary Kay representative to help her with her make up. Ditch the goth look / racoon eyes.. it's so pase. And... behind those pushbroom eyelashes are beautiful eyes, saw them on a close-up... behind the woolybears. She needs to let us see those, green(?), eyes Shawn! I really feel sorry for women in this business. Men.. boots, jeans, tee shirt, and a hat.. .and you're on! Women.?? Where do they start? Girl next door? or Girl your Mamma warned you about or Girl Daddy warned you about? Soooo many decisions.
Gabe Garcia. Another great performer. Voice smooth as chocolate cream pie. He should be number 1 or 2. Would like to see him bring in some of that mariachi sound we barely heard on his trip home. If Johnny Cash can do it in "Ring of Fire", why not Gabe-tar Hero? Country music is a blend of a lot of cultures. Time to blend in more ingredients.
Melissa Lawson. What can I say?.. she's the one. Fantastic voice, great presence and oooooh that smile! --- comin' to a sold-out Civic Center near you!

Final Four
This as usual is a very talented group of finalists, but one, although his tall and good looking and has a great personal story does not belong. Coffey is that person, he is not COUNTRY. The other three have what it takes to be a true "Nashville Star". I have been listening to country since I could barely sit a horse and this young man just doen not fit what I have heard and still hear today. He was counseled or advised several times that he had to change, but he has not. He certainly has the votes to stay this long in the competition, but the fans are not voting with their ears and pocketbooks, only with their eyes. Only my opinion, the other three can sell country music and will regardless of whether they are the champion or not. To the producers and the backing for this show, "Another wonderful season of talented performers"! Five stars for Nashville Star. We have been huge fans of Shawn since she started playing in Boone Iowa at the Venue. Her personality, spunk, voice, and smile will take her a long way. I was very impressed with Melissa's performance tonight. I think she did an awesome job. Gabe has got a beautiful voice too, but I have to say I think Melissa should win. Every song she has sung has been very touching and I think she inspires so many other people. GOOD JOB GIRL, you are GREAT.

Every time I hear Melissa sing, I get touched. She is a real "singer" and artist. She does not appear "put on" or fake like some of the others. She sings from the heart. GO MELISSA!!
