"My heart is damaged, so damaged..." Yes, Danity Kane is a group of hard working women! They have been rehearsing for quite awhile now...but the song doesn't stop...Shawn just walked by singing it again just as all of the other contestants have been doing over and over again this afternoon. The green room is clear for the first time in hours. It's so hectic backstage before the show. Five hours before the show begins it was already pandemonium on the set. Tonight's show is titled "Pop Goes Country" and boy oh boy am I excited! The show will be featuring pop stars Danity Kane of "Making the Band" fame as well as a fifty person choir. There are bright purple choir robes hung all over the theatre and the place is hoppin'!
I had a chance to talk with a few of the contestants tonight including Coffey, Gabe, Alyson and Ashlee. They are all so awesome and excited to be here each week. For all of you NashvilleStar.com fans out there I just wanted to let you know that Gabe is in fact from Lytle, TX and now resides in Nashville, TN contrary to what the site said before. We helped him get that information fixed. Sorry about that Gabe! He sat down tonight and let me know how much he loves living in "Music City" these days. When he was in Texas he used to fly out to Nashville every few weeks for songwriting sessions and it just made sense for him to finally make the big move and push forward full force.
Coffey sat down and talked to me about his ministries and outreach online. He acutally writes and sings praise and worship music and makes videos in both English, Spanish and another language I'm not recalling at the moment, and crosses these language barriers to share his faith.
Two hours til show time and everyone is getting prettied up. I haven't seen this many hair curlers since a pre-high school cheerleading competition. I'm sitting on a quite large and quite comfortable couch right now with Coffey, Sophie (of Laura & Sophie) and Courtney of Pearl Heart. They are all for their waiting dinner to arrive and Sophie is munching on some Milano cookies to tide her over. We are sitting in the green room watching a television that shows everything going on in the big room while the camera crew gets set up for the show. Right now the cameras are on the judges table. John, with a large cigar in his mouth, Jewel and Jeffrey have all shown up to set and are strumming their guitars as the crew checks camera angles and mics. Smells like dinner has arrived and I think I'm going to try and sneak a bite or two. Keep an eye on NashvilleStar.com and Myspace.com/NashvilleStar throughout the night for backstage picture and video content as well as my Twitter Tweets so you can know about everything going on behind-the-scenes during the show.
Also, stay tuned this week for new Myspace, Facebook, iLike and YouTube pages for all of your favorite Nashville Star contestants! During the week the contestants will be taking pictures, videos and blogging about their experience on the set during the week and all content will be available on their pages.
It's gonna be a sad night watching someone go home, but that's all up to you America. You vote! That's right...it's your vote that counts. So, when you're watching the show tonight remember that one vote can make a difference and do your part in helping "elect" the next Nashville Star!
Tune in tonight at 9/8c only on NBC!

Pop Goes Country-
I am still addicted to the show- however, I know I was not alone in thinking how awful and tacky the hip-hop performance was with those women running back and forth across the stage singing some awful song that looked like it belonged on MTV2... Pussy Cat Dolls? Whoever they were, THATS ENOUGH! You go from Trace Adkins to that... hmmm. Still, I am enjoying the show. And, dispite the comments from the judges being "cruel"- they are only telling the truth...
Nashville Star all wrong this year
I've watched Nashville Stars from the first and this is just terrible. Finally get to a national channel and you give the american people this garbage. Billy Ray has no personality and the dead silence is so long I want to change the channel...not even worth waiting to find out who was eliminated. And the judges....comments cruel and totally uncalled for...especially since they are the ones that picked the talent.
The format and people are all wrong this year. I enjoyed watching talented country singers finally get their break and sing before a crowd but this year...so bad. The judges keep saying they don't feel it...what did they expect. The show has gone from Nashville Star to Let Rich Make You A Star. Go back and find our struggling talented country singers that already feel country music and give them a break. While at it...dump the host and judges.
last nights episode
OMG I can't believe how tacky vegas like the show was, what happened to Nashville star, Guys that was so not country even if you wanted to transition pop to country which is all over the radio; this was so out there and bad. The dancers behind the singers and that group of women in spandex I thought I was watching a cheap vegas act.The judges are great and Billy Ray is great the singers not so great but the added drama really a channel changer. Go back to country ,can you duet was better! and there judges were nothing like what you have.
