i want gabe to winnnn!!!! =)
good luck gabe!
Coffey WAS good, but....
Aside from my obvioous disdain for the judges (pop-turned-country, pop-wannabe country and pop-wishes she was country) and their total failure to recognize a true talent in Charley, They failed to send the proper contestant(s) packing...Third Town. Now, for Mr. Coffey...GREAT talent but, can any person of color do country music without mixing soul into it? Charlie Pride did it VERRRY successfully for many, many years. I understand he is just being him, and I LOVE R&B, but country music is country music. Please let it stay that way. Coffey...YOU'RE FANTASTIC! What a set of pipes you have. Keep up the good work and remember...This is a COUNTRY competition you are going to win (now that the "judges" voted off your stiffest competition).
A more clinical, less friendly environment
I thought the format was a little more artificial and less "welcoming." When it was on the previous network it seemed more cosy; it was like the well researched contestants were performing in someone's living room. The new format, I feel, in an attempt to "copy" Idol has lost some of its intimacy and charm. There also seemed to be a greater distance, emotionally speaking, between the judges and the contestants. Certainly some of the fireworks and bright lights shows could be removed so that we can get back to the business of finding a great singer, one who will boost the fortunes of the network and become a traditional/country music Superstar in the style of Martina or Alan (Jackson). Best to all from NJ.
Poor Judges
I am not getting the "WOW" factor from this years show either! Not sure what the judges were thinking about Charley...thought he was actually one of the better ones....He'll make it though...the publicity will do him good...in the auditions in Washington, DC they passed on this guy John Luskey as well....I will have to admit I became a fan at the audition and cannot believe they passed on him. Check him out...this guy is awesome!

Elimination
Charlie Jenkins was my #1 pick. I thought he was awesome. I loved his voice. He sounded like the pros. Maybe that was the problem. Too much competition for the big guys. He should already have a record deal. What a sad mistake that was to eliminate Charlie.
Twotaw's opinion
First off wow! These comments are histarical! Well let me start by saying I enjoyed last season of Nashville Star. I felt like Angela was the best one for the job. As for this season, I think the competition is pretty tough! They all have a special sound and a special gift. I agree with the first elimination that the judges had to make. I felt that Charlie may be a great cowboy and even a decent singer but last night wasn't his best performance, that's for sure. He was kind of out of his element if you ask me. My top 5 favorites so far are...Gabe Garcia, Coffey, Laura & Sophie, Melissa Lawson and Ashlee Hewitt! Melissa Lawson has a voice like a blue bird and I can see her going a long way in this. Garcia has a true genuine country voice, I didn't really think the song he sang allowed him to show off his real talent but I think we haven't really seen him shine yet! I like Coffey's voice but I could do without the drawn out moan's, I guess you call it. It's okay to dragggg some notes but not every one of them! I don't feel like Hewitt let us see everything she's got, I would like to hear her belt out a few good heartfelt notes. Laura & Sophie were really great, the only thing is they kept watching each other to make sure they could hit their notes together, which I can understand but they need to trust that their voices will flow together regardless! As for the rest, I think they all need to step up their game! Get over the nerves and enjoy doing what they came to make into their career! I wish all of them the BEST OF LUCK! Break a leg!
Shawn Mayer
Shawn Mayer has been in Nashville with a regular gig at Tootsie's for a while now. I'm a little disturbed they tried to make it look like this show was plucking her off the pig farm and providing her first big break. I don't care if she sang at Tootsie's, but why go to such great lengths to show her as a pig farmer instead of a Nashville performer? It makes me not trust the honesty of the show.
Judges were dead wrong
The judges were so very wrong on who they booted off. This guy was one of the top two who had a God given natural country voice. I am very disappointed. I think they should by all means give him another chance. The judges say that the performers need to work the audeince but when they do they are voted off. I thought to entertain was suppose to be part of being a star and add that to having a great voice, well I call that a star performer. What? Moves around to much? Tell that to Garth. Maybe if Elvis didn't move so much when he was starting out, who knows maybe he would have been bigger than life or even called the King. Oh, I guess he was called the King, moving around, shaking and all. Another chance should be given and let the PEOPLE vote like the show is suppose to be all about.
Bring back Charley!
I could not believe that the judges sent one of the top 5 singers of the night home. There were plenty of other singers -- who couldn't sing -- that deserved to go packing. Charley was pure country, and I think that just because they didn't care for his theatrics was no reason to send him home. John Rich liked him, but he obviously didn't stand up for him enough in the end. The redheaded Martina/Reba wannabe was clearly the worst of the night, followed closely by the black haired girl. Neither has anything to offer. Overall, the men outsang the women until Melissa came to the stage to -- wow -- actually sing a strong note well. The trio and duo of girls have talent, but they are young and haven't learned how to truly use it and power it. I think they will in time. Coffey is a pure talent and all around great guy. Gabe is a strong country talent. And, Charley was one of my favorites. He looked great and had a voice. What a shame he seemed too country for the judges. It's supposed to be a country show, right? The men's trio needs to get a look, get a sound, and be their own trio, not looking like others. They have talent. They need to use it. Wouldn't Billy Ray make a better judge than a host? Taylor Swift rocked, even with the awful sound system. I wonder if America got it right last night and will send the redhead home. Did you notice she was blonde in her wedding pic? Does that mean she turned red to appear more country? Coincidence? I think not. Go home already.

Judges Feeling Threatened?
Marsha A
Seems like Charley got the axe because the judges don't want to be out shone. I guess the Reba look alike doesn't scare them like a Garth Brooks type? I tuned in to see Billy Ray. I saw him first on Dancing With The Stars and liked to watch him dance.
I'd like to see more Billy Ray AND let America decide who they want to hear instead of obviously biased judges.
A Petition For Charlie
I say we as Country Music Fans should start a petition to bring back a real country artist Charlie Jenkins I Closed my eyes when he sang and i could hear the amazing potential that man has.. He did what he thought could work just like Big and Rich do at their concerts get the fans involved and he did just that.
One Complaint what is up with letting a group like third town on i felt like i was at a sea world side show they are not country in any way shape or form and it is embarrassing to see a group like that go threw.
John Rich i understand you commitment to country music but we as country fans are tired of POP Country we are loyal fans and die for our artist don't mess it up by trying to make country POP.. What would Mr.Cash Mr.Haggard Mr. Daniels and Mr. Jennings or any of the greats think about what is going on we have enough groups like Rascal Flatt's and Kieth Urban. Country music is the only true and original form of music out there that speaks to everyone and it is by far the only music genre that has the most loyal fan base... please please don't turn country music in to POP Country.
Bring back the Crease wranglers, cowboy boots and Hat
Another Note Size Does not matter Melissa was amazing
many thanks for an amazing group of talent
your Pagan Cowboy
KEEP YOUR EYES OPEN!!!!!
KEEP AN EYE OUT FOR COFFEY! THAT DUDE IS REALLY TALENTED. CHECK HIM OUT ON GOD TUBE OR YOU TUBE. HE IS SPIRITUALLY GIFTED AND I WOULD LIKE TO VOTE FOR HIM. I AM ALSO GOING TO PUT THE WORD OUT THAT HE IS VERY DESERVING OF EVERYONES VOTE. GOD BLESS YOU ALL AND HEAR ME OUT. SAL
Elimination
I have never paid much attention to Nashville Star but seeing it is on NBC I thought I would give it a shot this year but after 1 episode I am fairly sure I will not watch it again. The Judges all made a very, very, very bad decision last night when they eliminated Charley. That guy was no where near the worst one in the show last night. The judges should be very ashamed of themselves for letting someone of Charley's caliber leave so soon. charley should not even been one of the 2 to be voted on to leave. If I owned a record company I would have called Charley last night and tried to get him to my company. Charley was one I would have voted for each week cause in my opinion he is top 5 material out of all the contestants. John Rich is good for country music but he is making very big mistakes. He did on his show on CMT when he allowed that Iglesias character to be his choice for winner. Now this! I am really beginning to wonder about John and whether he can remain good for country music. How many mistakes can he make and remain a staple in country music. If these mistakes continue will network TV want to keep country music in their thoughts for upcoming events? I sure hope some record label out there sees Charley's potential and gives him a shot because he has what it takes to go a long ways.
Good luck Charley I hope with all sincerity someone gives you a chance like so many of us deserve in life.
Charley Jenkins
Charley had a beautiful voice.. He was really country! I loved his performance and he seemed to be a natural.. I dont know what the judges were thinking. There were 3 other contestants that should have been on the chopping block, not Charley.. I think he did not get a fair decision.. And why why do they have to eliminate someone the first night? It should be up to the voters, and I bet, Charley would not be going home...Very talented young man, you could see he was totally shocked when his name was called. I hope some record company heard him and he gets a deal anyway.. The judges better spruce up, so far they arent doing too well.
new season
I thought last night was full of talented people.....I have watched NS from then first one and I think that the judges sent the nwrong one home last night.....He may have over done it a bit but he was goooooooooooooooood!!!!!!! The one I thought should leave was that trio of guys.....
gabe garcia
man what a peformance..... were all here for you kick some butt.......john myrick......
Charley Jenkins
Judges, what were you thinking??? Charley was one of the best. You should have gotten rid of Justin. I'm sorry but Justin hurt my ears.
Whoa - This is a country show right?
Okay Third Town - With all due respect you may have the talent so please take this to heart. You chose the country genre, the gothic hairstyle has to be changed. I understand personal expression but I personally was confused by the statement your hair makes. It simply contradicts the style of music your singing!!! And it is probably too late to change anything, but COFFEY the previous comment would apply to your stage name. It speaks any other genre but country!!!
Season Premiere
I have to say that there were a lot of really talented people on the premiere show tonight. BUT amongst those talented people, were very few with true talent! I've allready made my choices for the finals! Time will tell. One thing I can say for sure is that it's not allways about the looks!
SAD SAD DECISION
I felt the judges were cruel and inaccurate. Charlie Jenkins should have been there until the end. I hope a record label saw his performance and gives him a contract. As for Jewel, she should not be a judge, she is for rock not country. She let John make her decisions, plus it was evident she flirted with the last male singer(forgot his name). And he was one of the worst. Except to look at.Tonight was a waste. And i am done.I have always watched Nashville unless there are changes in the judges, I will never watch nashville again. I feel Charlie Jenkins should be given a second chance. I am sure the ratings will show the true story and I hope they drop. But God Bless Billy Ray Cyrus, he tried to keep the moral up.
Why Was Charlie eliminated?
He was the best one performing there. I think some of those singers don't know the first thing about singing country music. He was very good and I think he should be asked back
You told someone they didn't work the audience at all, and Charley did.
He had the audience in his hand. It was Great!
Gabe and Melissa
Sorry about letting the steam off that I forgot the others who performed well tonight. Gabe, good job man, the George Strait tune was you. Melissa, I waited all night for someone to move me, and babe did you ever!!!!! Laura & Sophie, What a performance bout , if I may make a teeny, weeny comment...Please get a deut name which goes along with your obvious talent. Just so doggne upset that Charley went packing. Hey...How about we fans vote pop singer-Johnny-come-lately Jewell off the program...or even force Fox to take the program off! Here I go again...Sorry!
Charly
wait did they say that Charly got elimated whats with that hes the best in the Uintha Basin hes the best singer that i love. What was Jewel Thinging or was she thinking. Charlie i love you. Jewel and who ever voted him off YOUR CRAZY.

What Were The Judges Thinking Tonight? Oh wait, they weren't!!
I totally agree with Skooly—several of the songs sung tonight were anything BUT country. I guess that I am just a Classic Country Lady, myself.
I was really impressed with Charley’s performance and very disappointed in the judges’ decision to send him home. He was COUNTRY to the bone from his cowboy hat to his cowboy boots—the kind of country that I like. I am SO sorry, Charley—please do not let the bad decision made by the judges tonight discourage you!! Please hold on to your dream!!
I think that Gabe and Melissa were very good tonight. I look forward to watching them grow into their right as Nashville Stars. They are both stars, even though only one will be the “official” Nashville Star.
Are You Kidding Me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jewell has come through again. Voting off a contestant who had a MUCH better chance of being the next Nashville Star than Alyson. Being a radio professional I know when gender overtook professionalism. ALL THREE JUDGES said in so many words that Alyson needed MUCH work, while their comments about Charley were that they didn't care for the way he interacted with the audience. Oh well, I guess the days of the first set of Judges making VERY professional decisions when Buddy Jewell became the first Nashville Star are long over, and we fans are left in the hands of a singer who sang about her hands, another who made comments about being all over the stage, when doesn't he and his partner do the very same thing? I'm done with Star. Sorry the program couldn't get REAL country music pros like Willie, Merle, Charley Pride, etc., etc.
i love nashville star it
i love nashville star it would have been hard to make that decision on who to let go they were all talented
Nashville Star has Idol beat
Nashville Star has Idol beat in many ways. It would have it beat if the judges had more personality. They lack a balance between criticism and encouragement, among other things. It is as if they don't realize they are on national television. The contestants are really entertaining and many are very talented; too bad America didn't get to hear more from those eliminated (prematurely, I'm sure) by these judges.
Just like the performers, I'm sure they will get better with time...we hope.
Thank the Lord for Billy Ray; his kind-hearted way and enthusiasm is bridging the gap.
One more comment and no more criticism, promise:
Was there no IEM system in place or personal monitors at all? Even Taylor Swift was flat; in fact, there were many contestants as good if not better than her! It is evident that most have great natural talent. Let Jewel or John get out there w/o an IEM & we'll tell them how they "rank!"
Sophie & Laura
Those two young girls showed the other groups
what harmony is all about. Their performance was classy and looked so professional. They were great!

Tonights show
Great show..awesome singers..good luck to everyone.
NOW where do you vote?

I LOVE SOPHIE AND LAURA
SOPHIE AND LAURA were the best i think. they have so much talent and they make the older contestants look bad. i love them. =]
love Mary
Potential star
What will be great to see is the progression this young Justin Gaston will make on this show. Justin is relatively new to being on stage, but he has everything it takes to be a star. His talent, ambition, and character will carry him far! Enjoy the ride, Justin!
Martin Rebel
Charlie
I agree...Charlie should have stayed and the Reba-wanna-be should have been sent packing.

Gabe Garcia Rocks
Hey Gabe it's Joe and Jenn here in San Antonio, TX! We just came from Lytle, TX and everybody was there to show our support. You sounded awesome and looked great. Thanks for all the dances!
Charlie
I enjoyed your singing and I thought that you should continue. I wonder if enough people send in messages for you, will they let you come back? I hope so. You are the only one that really got with the crowd and fans loved it. Keep doing what your doing and someday I hope to buy your cd. I never thought they would send you home tonight.
GABE GARCIA
Gabe is the best. He really knows how to throw a party. The crew at CPS supports you. Is Zane gonna give ya any plugs? Best wishes, Joseph & Darla.
Charley Jenkins
I thought the judges missed it when they sent Charley Jenkins home. I thought he had engery and was a fantastic singer. I could tell the crowd was so into his music. Everyone loved him. Sorry judges, but you made a mistake here in my opinion.
Charley, you were incredible tonight.
Loved your performance.
Melissa
Missylu
I thought Melissa was the best tonight. What a voice she has.
country girl 67 I won't be
country girl 67
I won't be watching the show anymore. The best real country western singer on the show tonight, was Charlie Jenkins. I can't believe you kicked him off. Well I'm ticked off, no more Nashville Star for me. Bye!

melissa lawson
Melissa Lawson rocked the stage tonight.I think that she and Gabe were the top two performers of the night.Although I do not agree with Charley going home tonight I think tha tit should have been the other one(I forgot her name)oh well can't wait to see how the next show goes.
Melissa and Gabe
I think Melissa and Gabe are really good. Everyone did well. I have not voted yet because I am torn between these two. I have been in talent shows all my life and I know how hard it can be on a person. I know all of you were afraid. But you all have a chance to win. So go far it and give it all you got. Go out there and sing your hearts out. Give the fans all you got. The judges will see who wants it the most. So bring it! No matter what happens, never give up your dream. Your all stars to me.
how are you suppose to vote?
how are you suppose to vote? they need to have a big button that says "VOTE" if anyone knows how to vote online let me know please!! GO SHAWN!!!!!!!
charley jenkins
I think the Judges are on something they voted off one of the best singers of the night.
I am not sure I will watch the show again because I felt the judges were not at all fair to charley. Why would you not want him to work the crowd.
May be they better play the tape back because out of the two the girl should have gone.
Hope it gets better.
Bad choice on judges
I like the show and everything and there's alotta people that got talent but I just don't agree with sending Charlie home, I know jewel mentioned that they gotta think about whos got the most potential to be a nashville star and I just don't think allison has it, Charlie Just seems to have one of them voices yeah the song choice was poor and so was alot of the choices by others but in the end you want something different and pure, I think John rich had it right when he was saying allison, It just disturbs me a little that Jewel is a judge, just coming over to country from pop I just love country music to the core and does jewel really know country music like everybody else maybe I'm just being a little judgemental sorry for your luck charlie hope to see you in Nashville someday!
my vote
iam voteing for melissa lawson iam very happy with the performance tonight so keep it up
my vote
this is how iam going to vote for ashlee hewitt
i like your performance tonight
COUNTRY MUSIC
First off they are all great and have made it this far. But I am disappointed that Country music is not what it used to be. I realize that there are all kinds of music, but it appears that Country is just not Country any more. I wish that these singers would look back into the roots of country music and see if they could at least match that and bring it back to life. It would be so great to hear the Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, George Straight, Johnny Bush, just to name a few. Thank you for letting me share my personal thoughts and I do wish each and every one of them the best.
