This show is rigged just like American Idol. How in the world can they keep Coffey and let Ashley Hewitt go home. It should have been Melissa, Gabe, Ashley, and Shawyn in the final four. They are the ones that can truly sing. Each week he proves he isn't made for singing country music career. It's Country Music not Rap! Bring back Ashley and let him go. These judges are so stuck on Gabe that it isn't even funny. Last week he sang livin la vida loca and didn't change a thing to make it country and they said he was great. This week he sings a hard rock song and doesn't do anything to make it country and they once again say it's great. But Coffey comes out and sings a country song and they tell him he's not country. I don't get it. Gabe is the worst performer out of any of them and when he does sing country he's just trying to be George Straight. If he does win this thing it will be because John Rich made him the winner and I think he will be a one hit wonder.

I loved the family show it was just great..All those familys and the love they showed. Also ,I don't know where the Bar B Que took place But it was such a beautiful site. I was wondering if it was one of the judges homeplace? It had to be in TENN. .................. (Country all the way through,) Texas Granny

Who the hell do you think you are John Rich??? Telling Coffey that 'Wearing a cowboy hat doesn't make you country' and 'you got confused because this is Nashville Star not American Idol'? Have you ever listened to any of your songs??? PLEASE tell me how they are country????? Rollin, Save a Horse Ride a Cowboy???? Can you see Johnny Cash singing these songs??? Don't kid yourself, you are further from country than Coffey could ever get!!!

I've been a fan of Nashville Star since the beginning and I have to admit I love Idol. One difference along with many that I notice is how Idol always supports it's past winners and runner ups! It gives updates to where they are now in their careers? I am a huge fan of country music but Idol is producing more country super stars than Star and I truly believe it's because it supports the top 12 beyond the show and tour in following up with them in the following seasons so fans don't forget them!! Think about it Nashville Star!!

It was nice to see the preperation process of the contestants.. Being a Great artist is hard work. Im happy that that was shared. I liked the old Nashville Star shows-I have watched them all and this is the worst talent, no fun, etc. Melissa and a couple others are the only reason I watch-Please get it back like the other ones. Wynona needs to host every year and quit changing around.

I've never watched the show before because I don't
have cable. However, I do watch American Idol and
America's Got Talent religiously.

I did enjoy Sophie and Laura singing that old country song on the first episode.And I do agree
with that other gentleman complaining about the poor
quality of the microphones on all these above mentioned reality talent shows. It seems like there is always a difference between the sounds the judges
and audience here and that which comes over the air.

I thought Ashlee Hewitt was a bit off pitch in the
first episode but enjoyed her old fashioned country
sounding voice in the second episode.

I guess I'm a sucker for tuning into these kind of
shows and will continue to watch.

I don't understand how the judges can be so complimentary to the contestants! There were so many more talented people who didn't make it this far. I thought this was a talent competition not a freak show. Melissa and the little George Straight wanna-be are the only two worthy of praise. At least they have controlled voices and can stay on pitch!

Girl I can not beleive that you were in the bottom this week. I love to hear you sing. I am so glad they did not send you home. Bring all you got to the table and let the judges know you are the best. Do some Reba, you have the voice for it. I wish you the best.

How do I get a chance to be on Nashville Star?

I think that the cross over artists have been very successful due to Country music loosing its once held national status. Artists have to appeal to a wider range of listeners. This is not a bad thing but it is not all about Country as it once was. I also think that a lot of the performers think that this contest is all about yelling at the audience or only stage presence and forget about the God given talent of singing!

Country Girl,

You need to go. Justin needs to stay. Guess you haven't kept up with some of our most successful country artists in the last few years. Carrie Underwood, Keith Urban, Taylor Swift, Tim McGraw. Guess you also haven't noticed how successfully they cross over music lines-country, rock, and pop. They can attribute this to their versatility and ability to appeal to an audience that appreciates any kind of music.

I'm looking forward to seeing this young artist develop his talent. I believe he will be the finalist that will show the most improvement through this process.

I was really excited that Nashville Star was going to be on a major network that way more people could see what the show was really about however, I am really disappointed mainly in the contestants. Where are all the "true" country singers like we have had in the past, you know the ones who are really talented and truly represent country music and are true song writers, etc. The only two contestants that might even come close to that would be Gabe and Ashlee. I still cant understand why Justin even made it through, give me a break, that guy sucks! I have watched Nashville Star since the very first show and this one doesn't compare to any of the talent that has been represented in the past at all! Very, very disapointing. People need to sing country music, what is this, a American Idol wanna be? TinaG

Just so you know. NBC TV Network (NBC Universal) owns and operates USA TV Network; so, the same parent company runs both. Same church, different pew. The show was moved to NBC since it is network TV to attract more potential viewers and it is in more households than USA being on cable. However, the program format was changed. Having duos and groups was a positive move. Some of the other changes have not worked out so well.

I have been an avid Nashville Star watcher since the first season on USA network. Is this the best NBC can do??? If it is take it back to USA! It feels like to me we are trying to turn it into American Idol. The comments are cynical and demeaning. I don't think any of the judges are doing us or any of the contestants any favors, by judging the show. Bring back the old format, the old judges, and the fun time I had watching it. What was Jewel thinking about eliminating Charlie? That other girl won't even have a chance. So what if Charlie was working the crowd. That is what they were telling them to do in the beginning and then he goes out and they vote him out because he was like Garth Brooks. Sounds like some jealousy. Garth has out sold everyone in record sales. Charlie was much better than the girl, whatever her name was and I don't mean anything bad about her, but the judges said it very clearly, "She is a beauty pageant singer."

Wow, shocking to see how many people are so disappointed in this season. I LOVE this show & I REALLY hope to get to audition in 2 yrs when I'm 16. Country singers need this show instead of American Idol. I hope things get better & people continue to suport the show so it stays on tv!! I personally like several of the contestants this year =-)

I do agree that his comments are out of line though..LOL the sad fact is that if these individuals were trying to do this on their own they would recieve worse comments from the industry!! heck, these three judges wouldnt give them the time of day in the real world.. Jewel is great, hope you do sell some music,lol (free publicity). To save the Best for last whats his name?? Oh ya, Jeffrey Steele,haha. I was really happy to hear Jeff tell the TALENT,haha, to put feeling into the music, the dude knows what he is talking about!! Anyone can get their hair and makeup done and go out on stage, or do a video,but if you can't make the fans FEEL the music you are trying to sell, or rope them into the vibe of a live show,, well then we would all wasting our time watching, because they wont make it past their first (over produced) cd.. I hope all the judges get on Jeff's band wagon. As a music lover of ALL music,I hope that the three talented mentors can get these remaining hopefuls to find the love of music, not stardom!! I waited months to see my favorite show ever and I am so disappointed, this show was sooo good every year with the great judges and so much talent and now what do we have,a boring host and I am sorry I do like Billy Ray but come on he is no public speaker. I also do not like John Rich and his arrogance and some of the comments he makes every week that are of a sexual nature and his comment towards a contestant about how he wishes he had written 38 top 40's or something like that, well news flash John these people are TRYING to get discovered and they probably look up to you for that fact but your whole attitude SUCKS!!!!I agree with some of Jewel's comments but she needs to stop arguing with her co-host because she is obviously smarter and more talented them HIM and should not lower her self to his level. My last thoughts are the disappointing lack of talent this year is unbelievable, I have heard more talent on SingSnap then on this seasons show. NBC has created a watered down version of American Idol instead of a country music talent search as this show was intended to be.I will not watch anymore this season and I have been a loyal fan of this show since it's conception. The REAL problem is not the contestants but the songs the judges are choosing for them. These song selections are lame at best. The judges being the coaches is dumb as well, we should have coaches and then seperate judges so they can be impartial. NBC should asses there "new" format and adjust quickly.

i have sat here and read some of the words being said here and quite frankly i am disappointed in the words being said versus the people and the judges on the show. look at this- the finalists picked are ones that beat out hundreds, i don't see you up there. (get angry if you choose, i will only smile, we are all entitled opinions) we are watching this show because of our curiosity and desire to see the next "nashville star", get over being angry and being nit-picky. nobody is perfect. some people have a better ability to sing than others, granted, but quit arguing over shows in the past that we can do nothing about, enjoy what nbc has given us, and the talent that these young people have brought to the table, and be thankful that for some reason unknown to us, a break has been given to these 12 finalists that may have not been given in any other way for them to have been exposed. something good will come out of everything and as far as i am concerened get over all the negativity and see the good in this show and make this blogging site a good thing and enjoyable for everyone and for these contestants that just might be reading the very words that you type to condemn them!!!! remember, it could be your daughter, or your sister that in some way, if you were connected to you would be supporting, so dont deny it!!! everyone has to start somewhere.....im not angry, i just think everyone should be treated with respect and everyone should think about the words being said before they are said......

This is the worse season for the Nashville star. Jewel is she even country? She talks about the person being too nasal sounding, Has she ever listened to herself. Rich, he doesn't want the contestants to work the crowd, well working the crowd is what puts on a show sometimes. This is the worse Nashville star yet, I have always enjoyed the show but after the first night I don't even care to see it. They need new judges, if these judges want to be american idol judges then switch shows. They have ruined this program

Who in the heck selected this so called talent? They should have had Brett, Amy and Naomi make the choices. They found some great talent for "Can You Duet?"

I think that there are some good singers this season, but what was up with the 3 guy band in lasts nights show. What was the name of that band again? Anyways, they were not very good. When is the next auditions being held. I wanna show my country side!!!

My wife and I have tried to watch and will rent movies from now on. One of the problems is the lack of COUNTRY singers. Another is the lack of TALENT. And the number one reason is the judges. I cannot believe how bad they really are. Jewell is like listening to Johnny Miller commentate golf, and Rich has got to be the most arrogant no talent thing ever. It is not bearable. Sorry good luck. I hope that you can make it through.

I am also disappointed with the new format of the show.

What is up with John Rich? After watching last night he came off as if he was a casting couch judge. Jewel should have been upset when he asked if she was making out for 30 minutes with the contestant.

John Rich needs to have a little “Texas” class like George Strait.
