The Real Music Business
First of all, I have always been a fan of Jewel and I believe John Rich is a fantastic song writer. Unfortunately we are all finding out that having talent doesn't automatically make you an expert at hearing it. My brothers and I auditioned for Nashville Star as a tribute to our Father. We lost him in 2005. When we heard that Nashville Star was allowing trios, we jumped at the chance. Our Dad always told us we could go places together that we never could separately. Looking back I can't help but think he planned things that way. So we would always share that common bond and depend on each other. He was a professional musician for 40+ years and one of the best saxophone players I have ever heard. I realize that there will be some people out there reading this and saying to themselves...."Ah she's just upset because she didn't make it." The truth is, I'm not upset. We did our best and made it all the way to the call-backs in Nashville. I think we did our Dad proud. What does upset me is that the producers of Nashville Star actually expect the American public to believe that the contestants chosen for the show were the BEST!!! out of all of the auditions. Come on people.....use your common sense and trust your ear. I can walk into a bar on Saturday night and hear better singers. I honestly don't know why these people were chosen, but it wasn't for their talent. The music business is a cut throat, break your heart world and only the strong survive. For years we did nothing but practice because we wanted to be the best that we could be. We rehearsed songs for weeks before we performed them on stage. I am proud to say that in three years time we were billed with Allison Krauss and Union Station. Our Father was a perfectionist and he pushed us. For no other reason than because he believed in our abilities. Thanks to him, our harmony is so tight, you can't tell where one voice starts and another one ends. Of course we can't expect everyone to like our sound, but when it's good, you know it. We were disappointed when we didn't make it, but it is going to take a lot more than that rejection to break our spirit. I am amazed that professional musicians chose these contestants and I can't help but ask myself why. I know it wasn't because of their talent. I am 38 years old and was raised on music. I know talent when I hear it. Just because someone sings in the shower, doesn't mean they are star material. It is flattering to be bested by someone truly talented. It makes you want to work harder. On the other hand, it is heartbreaking to be passed over for someone who couldn't win a second rate Karaoke contest. I understand now what my Dad meant when he told us "It's not always about what you know, but who you know." The most disheartening fact of all is that there are so many talented people out there who will never be heard because of some underlying political agenda. God gave us a gift and our Father taught us how to use it. We will always Love music no matter how many times our hearts are broken or we are disappointed. The real music business is filled with heartache and disappointment and sometimes it is hard to stay strong and believe in yourself, but I can say, without hesitation, that I would put either one of my brothers up against any one of these so-called performers. We have played until our fingers bled. Fought the heat and the cold, And ate more bologna than anyone should have to. We've paid our dues with blood, sweat and tears for longer than most of these contestants have been alive. If their mediocrity represents what country music is about, then I am happy we are not in their company. I think NBC should be ashamed to call this a talent competition and I thank God I have the sense to know it's a joke and not take it too seriously. If you doubt it, even for a second, listen to Patsy Cline, or Martina McBride, or K. D. Lang. Listen to the Eagles and Diamond Rio. What you will hear is true talent and it is undeniable. To all of you who have put your heart and soul in to music; strived to be better; played for free just because. There are three hillbilly musicians in one little corner of Missouri who still believe that matters, and who will be cheering you on next year!!!!

Vindetta
Melissa Lawson
Unbelievable voice!

Gabe Garcia
3rd Town

Gabe Garcia
Gabe isn't half bad...potential
Coffey
Reminds me of Lionel Richie.
Tommy Stanley
I don't agree with the judges. How did Tommy slip through? I
love the man in uniform but he just doesn't have the whole
package.
Postings
I don't think they should be announcing who was taken off the show until the show is over in ALL time zones....
Trace Adkins just sang here..
so there are still 2 more to perform tonight, and then the elimination..
but why watch the show??
Third Town was eliminated...
You have to remember the time zone differences..
It just came on in California..

Melissa Lawson, Gabe Garcia, and Tommy Stanley
Melissa, Gabe and Tommy were the best three contestants tonight.
Melissa

Send Jewel Home !
Send Jewel Home !
Melissa Lawson
Melissa Lawson is one of the most talented contestants this season. She knows she is fighting for her future, but to put her against Third Town was a not brainer. She is very talented. She just needs the opportunity to be molded into a GREAT artist and I hope someone out there is smart enough and brave enough to take her on.
wrong one went home
i really liked the show an i think that the judges were right on the money !!!!!but i think that the wrong one went home the pageant red head should have left instead of charlie but i liked gabe alot he was awsome !!!!
The Judges & Contestants
Well the show sucks now!!!!!The judges are no good and the contestants are horrible. The LAST GIRL WAS THE BEST!! The rest can't hold a candle to her..You go girl!! Knock them dead!! I hate the judges this proves they don't know talent if it slapped them in the face..One reason is THEY HAVE NONE!!! DA!!! The show better go back to the way they were..I will not watch anymore!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hate it!!!!!!
Third Town - Little Tony & Jeff Longtime Fan
I'd love to see Little Tony exercise his vocal range on this show. (He has a range that can compete with damned near any man, or woman!! I'd love to hear him belt out a glass-shattering tear jerker this season!) I'm almost sad though... Third Town is going to be huge, no matter what. That means they'll be less likely to wander into my part of town and wow the smaller crowds. Jeff and Little Tony are extraordinarily talented, and funny as hell with their well written parodies of other performers.
As for that crap about having one singer? If that's the route the judges want Third Town to take, they will sadly miss out on so many wonderful things that the trio has to offer.
Third Town has my vote, hands down, no questions asked.
Oh, and Little Tony? The new hair is odd, but it works for you. If Billy Ray can keep the metrosexual hippie look he's got and not catch hell for it, you keep what works for you too!
Week 1 Comments
Billy Ray - nice job, but try to find different things to say to the contestants once they are done. Very good start with the troops.
John Rich - you messed up Gone Country. Please don't mess up Nashville Star. Your comments are typically way off and don't try to out talk Jeff and Jewel (they offer good advise and criticism). And nobody cares if someone is going to be recording with you. Would rather see them record with Taylor Swift.
My favorites so far - Ashlee, Laura and Sophie, and Pearl Heart. Great perfomances!!!
Judges picks
the little gal that was like a Jewel impersonator that did the "crinkle my toes, wrinkle my nose" song....that really sucked!!!!! I thought....and you all raved about how great she was, then put Charley down and voted him off and he was WAY better than her!!!!!!!! she was a nice girl, and could probably do alot better, but for performance of the night, she should have been voted off or the red head "pageant queen" over charley!!!!!!! You all are really biased!!!!! I will watch one or more shows, if no better than this with the Judges.....I guit!!!!! and will wait for Idol to start once again in 6 months!!!! (Think you can Dance is no better!!!! I can't stand any of those judges and had to quit watching that show because of the Judges!!!!! Can't stand that "Marie Osmond" look alike chik with the annoying Laugh!!!! and her nasty smile with her white chalk teeth sounding like the wicked witch nagging Dorothy on the Wiz of Oz!!!!! I hope I never dream about this show..... what a nightmare that would be!!!!!
NVStar leaders
TOMMY STANLEY!!!!!! go ManBoy!!!!!! I love you..!!!! You look like Elliot Yamin's little Bro!!!!! Awesome voice and awesome job to our country!!!!!! I hope you win TS!!!!!!by the way, same initials in my name... :)

the trio girls, duo girls, not impressed....Gabe...you are nightclub act dude....Justin, gorgeous !!!!!!! but can you really sing....didn't see it, hear it, first night....but gotta give you a chance cause you are so darn cute!!!!! sorry, I know you hear that alot....but looks do sell....just hope you have the voice to back up the rest of your package....plus I love it that you love your mom !!!!!! :) nice to see.....
No SimonCowell actions
Nashville Star Judges: Don't try to be a copy cat of American Idol "randy, paula, simon" as you are really trying to do......STOP IT! there is NO other AI judges, so don't even try it....not working!!!!! All the "new" reality shows with "panel judges" are trying to copy the success of AI....aint happening people!!!!! There is only one American Idol Show!!!!! and only one #3 panel of Judges Unique & that is Randy, Paula and Simon!!!!! #l always!!!!! TS.... and the talent you all picked this year is no where near the Miranda Lambert year!!!!!! and she lost to Brad Cotter.....!!!!! Brad who?????? right on Miranda.....!!!!!! glad you hung in there!!!!! you are the rockin best country gal ever!!!
1st night
Judges were too rough on the comments for their first night out!!!!!! Hey, John Rich.....remember where you came from dude!!!! and Jewel, does!!!!! she remembers those hot nights sleeping in the back of a car dreaming of making it big!!!!!! And she did.....probably wouldn't now in this era of singers like she did. when she did however......lucky break...you all talk about standing out, and being "memorable".....well, John Rich, you are NOT "memorable" as a lead singer or Singer for that matter....and neither is Jewel and neither is "who is Jeff Steele anyway".....? none of you would make it big now as a Super Star Singer!!!!! keep up your writing skills, cause that's where you're at!!!!and who picked you all as "judges" anyway???????

Shocked and Disappointed
I cannot believe these contestants were chosen out of the more than 30,000 auditions. I personally heard some of the other acts and the twelve people chosen do not represent the best America has to offer. I have been involved with the music business in one way or another for most of my life and I have to say that I am very disheartened. This competition is supposed to be about talent and all I can think about is the talent the Nashville Star judges passed over in order to choose these people. I am not ashamed to admit that I expected more from them. I would like to say directly to those talented people who didn't make it..."keep your chin up! Obviously, it wasn't because you werent good enough"!!!

Coffey
I am not sure what people are thinking, but Coffey was the best!! He is a well seasoned performer, awesome singer!! I hope he wins!

Poor Judges
I am not getting the "WOW" factor from this years show either! Not sure what the judges were thinking about Charley...thought he was actually one of the better ones....He'll make it though...the publicity will do him good...in the auditions in Washington, DC they passed on this guy John Luskey as well....I will have to admit I became a fan at the audition and cannot believe they passed on him. Check him out...this guy is awesome!

Poor Judging
I was disappointed in the judging panel. The judging is about who is singing the best. The judging is not about who is over-ACTING on Stage. The individual who was voted off was the better of some singers who stood on stage with no movement or expression in their songs. The two singers who were the deciding factor to be voted off had excitement into their singing. They got the crowd involved. Wake Up. Jewel needs to get outside her boring singing box and take a good look at what's exciting in country music
Vote For Gabe!!!!
Vote for my Cousin!!!! Hooah!!!
